01 — The Context

INDIA'S LARGEST TRUCKING PLATFORM NEEDED TO ONBOARD THOUSANDS — FAST.

BlackBuck — now Zinka Technologies, which went public in 2024 — is India's largest digital trucking platform. Their Boss App is used by fleet operators to manage vehicles, drivers, routes, and payments. The platform had scaled rapidly, but onboarding new users remained a bottleneck.

The challenge: fleet operators across India have varying levels of digital literacy. A text-heavy onboarding guide or a traditional walkthrough video wouldn't cut it. BlackBuck needed something that could explain a complex tech product in a format that was intuitive, engaging, and worked for users who might be using a smartphone app for fleet management for the first time.

EXPLAINING COMPLEX LOGISTICS TECH TO USERS WITH VARYING DIGITAL LITERACY.

Training content for enterprise tech usually falls into one of two traps: either it's so simplified that power users feel patronized, or it's so detailed that new users feel overwhelmed. BlackBuck's audience was uniquely challenging — fleet operators who are business-savvy but may not be digitally fluent.

The best training content doesn't feel like training — it feels like a conversation. We needed to create something that a fleet operator would watch voluntarily, not because they had to, but because it actually helped them do their job better.

ANIMATION AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN TECHNOLOGY AND PEOPLE.

The animation style was deliberately warm and approachable — rounded characters, clear color coding for different app features, and smooth transitions that guided the eye naturally from one concept to the next. We avoided the cold, corporate animation style that makes tech tutorials feel like compliance exercises.

The voice-over was recorded in a conversational tone, as if a colleague was walking you through the app over a cup of chai. Paired with intuitive sound design — subtle notification sounds, satisfying tap feedback — the video created a learning experience that felt natural and even enjoyable.
